Yea the 4x4 Y has to be real damn close to perfect. You don't want to force either , but you probably already know all that. I only used header bolts where I needed to since they don't have the strength and length of OEM. With headers, there's a few locations where you can use a full length stud, just so you know.

Have you picked out the first road your going to lite on fire yet ? Designate a set of tires to one yet ? These are things you need to contemplate at this point.

Can't wait to see it, post up some vids so we can hear what you made lol

The bolts I used were plenty long, grade 8 came with a safety locking flangehead and pretreated with loctite. Hope I never have to remove them lol the y pipe I have is like 3" and the exhaust is 2.25 or 2.5 but my y engulfs the stock catback.

3" ? I've never seen anyone use a 3". Does your tuner know ? Well I take that back, the only trucks I've seen use a 3" is the baja and endurance race trucks. It's why the the 3" is also known as a off road pipe. It's only for trucks that run WFO ALL the time because they have no low end power with those pipes. Some of those trucks it like start and nail it lol. They are a blast in the dunes, great power, but run at high rpms. I guess a tuner can tune for anything but...this is a street truck right? Idno, just seem like a 3" would be difficult to tune in usable HP/TQ. I had one once, but I made an intake out of it lol.

Also reminds me and since your Y isn't up yet did, you check for header leaks cold?

IME, there's been a lot guys who use the expensive gaskets (non header gaskets) like double and triple gaskets vs header gaskets. Only to have header leaks after they fire the truck up when all said and done. Header gaskets are the cheap paper/silicon gaskets. Those wont leak, ever I think lol. Also, only one way to torque headers down, that's from the center out to front and rear. That's for the best seal and it doesn't matter what type of header bolts are used, they won't need retorquing.

Anyway, I use 10 lbs of compressed air to check for leaks. I have the fitting for it, but it's easier for some to use a shop vac in blower mode and reducer plugged into the collector with a squirt bottle of soapy water. I would for piece of mind anyway.
