i have a 1998 excab with the 4.6 its a great motor except lately its been miss firing. when i acelerate from a dead stop it miss fires but no when i am at idle or constant speed then again when i acelerate at any speed to a higher speed here comes the weird part its not pulling any codes not even turning the check ingine light on??????? any ideas maybe a coil wirees plugss i need ideas motor has 157000

 

at the risk of sounding like a dumbass, what is the sign of a misfire?

 

Be patient, reliable sources here say not all miss fires will thro a code, like its hard to detect or something Am a nuts and bolts guy versus the computor guru, if responses don't favor your liking, suggest trying the search heading, real good info there.

 

My 2000 F150 4.6 does the same thing. first the CEL came on and It said 1 and 2 mis fire so I replaced the plugs it ran good for a few weeks and then decided to act up again this time no codes. I replaced the injectors and coil packs at the same time.. Still no CEL but runs like Hyundai
