Not atm. But I read torque app does so I should be able to check everything once it arrives.

Something I found strange was when I was looking into the mode 06 data. There was a screenshot of someone using the torque app. It showed missfires for each cylinder and the max value was around 65000. I think for the last 10 runs. This seems like such a huge amount and might be why low grade missfires never throw a code? Can't remember what model year it was for tho

But anyways. Just ordered a dongle off of amazon and should be here next wednesday! Thanks for the help!
I am a definite proponent of the torque pro app. Let us know if you have any trouble setting it up.

I dont believe our max is that high but yeh these low grade missfires are really a PIA. When you get it the app up and connected just run the test feature. Make sure your phone doesnt go to sleep or it will start the test over again, as it takes a few minutes. This shows you all of the mode $6 stored data. The tests you are looking for are tests $53. For you they will be listed in order starting at $53-01 and ending at $53-06 with a numerical value for the number of misfires corresponding to that cylinder.

Alright sounds easy enough. I'm guessing any amount of missfires is bad. Also should I test doing different driving conditions- idle, WOT, loads, highway speeds?

A truck can have a few and it wont really hurt anything but it will show you exactly which cylinder is the problem. The test im referring to can be performed sitting in your driveway but if that is inconclusive set up your live data and go for a drive. once you find the gear and speed it likes to misfire in, hold it there and wait for a reading.

No problem. Make sure you go in and load the ford specific pid's. It is in the settings menu.

+1 on the Torque app for finding low grade misfires. Your on the right path there.
What meters should you be looking at to find the misfire? Fuel rail pressure and a few others don't work for me

Meters?

There's a meter for FP? Gauge perhaps?

Oh , are you referring to monitors?

Yea , you must be meaning monitors. It's just as easy to read the instructional or search the app info. Didn't your unit come with any info ?

From memory (mine lol), you have the Misfire monitor, mode 6 (= Cylinder history), M6 Live Data. This is the info the app taps into.

It's the live data you want to monitor for misfire. You bring the engine load up to it's worst misfire state, while watching the monitor info. There's usually a misfire count going on at the same time (that's for history), but the live data shows you as it's occurring.

It's a short cut techs use.
