Default Axle: S824A and S824B differences?

Had a S824A axle go out on my F150. It's got 3.08 gears and rear disc brakes.

The only thing I can find locally is a S824B axle with 3.08 gears and disc brakes. Will this work on my truck?

I have a 2001 2wd, auto V8. Thanks for your help.

I don't know about these axles but back in the mid 80's A and B had to do with wheel stud size on a Ranger.

If all I have to do is get a new set of lug nuts, I am OK with that. Can anyone confirm?

It would be easier if we knew the year the rearend was from. If i recall the B is the later revision with the larger wheel studs.

It's coming from a 2002 F150. If the only difference is longer studs, I can work with that easily.

Then yes the only difference is larger wheel studs. The 02 axle has 14mm studs where as your 2001 should have 12mm.

I think the Ranger A\B was SAE to metric, FWIW.
