axle gear swap
I am thinking about swapping out my factory 3.55 gears for 4.10's or 4.30's to regain some of the lost power from running larger tires. The question I have is how hard is it to get to the front differential to perform this swap since I have independent front suspension. How long would a project like this take and is it worth the hassle? Also what is the best limited slip diff to install in the front end or is the front end limited slip from the factory? And yes i know if i swap gears in the front i also have to do the rear so we can just skip that point.

OVERTHINKER
Since you have never pulled the diff before it could take all day depending on the tools you have available [air tools, large jackstands]. As for the gears, I don't touch them. I have done about everything you can do to one of these trucks but when it comes to setting up ring and pinion gears I got a guy that has a PHD in setting gears.

thread jacker!
if you have the lift and right tools its not hard at all. the tricky part is gettin the backlash and all lined up just right so nothin goes to whining in 5000 miles

gear swap
i put 410 gears in my truck with 35s and did not like it very much then i went to 488 it is a lot better i did the rear first and then did the front the next weekend the front was easier than the rear because i pulled the hole front axle out and put it on the work bench it took about two and a half hours to do
