So im looking at new black headlights and they fit the 97-03 F150s, but only the 97 f150s built after 7/96, (mine was built 6/96). Anyways the black ones wont fit, so i was wondering if anyone with a 98 or newer could post pics of how their stock or aftermarket headlights are installed, so i can see what i would have to modify to get the heads built after 7/96 to fit. i've try looking on line for a assembly of the headlights but i could find any.

I've been wondering the same thing because there's so many different ones out there if your truck was built in/after July 96. I'm thinking about going to a junkyard and pulling out some headlights to take home and see if they can be modified to fit.

The one for BEFORE has that extra backing for the corner lights.

Ya, the black backing is what confuses me. I don't see why you can't put a 7/96 or new headlight on the 6/96 or before black housing piece??

i tried to modify one ..one time to work... never could..... but i think if you tried hard you could... but i think you need to have the whole set...

Well Im thinking there has got to be a simple thing you have to do so you don't need the black housing. I mean there can't be anything that big of a difference. But I figure is someone can post pics, i can see what i might have to do so i don't need the black housing at all?

while on the subject I want black outs for my head lights but they have ehhh I call em sticks they stick out can I put some on?

Do you think you could take a picture of what they are held by to the truck. Cause my lights have two clips that are inserted into the black housing
