Default any advice/suggestions from lifted 4x4 owners? trying to make a plain f150 fun

i have a 97-03 f150 4x4 single cab that i am looking to lift. truck was my dads so im keeping it. has 3x,xxxx low miles

i want a daily driver that can go offroad when i need to. mostly fields, creeks, light mud, hills, snow, some sand. so all terrain. ill need help choosing a tire too. something long lasting with aggressive tread. dick cepek crrushers? or pro comps? 35"? or other sizes? i dont need to go highway often if i do i am not looking to speed or turn fast

i saw the various companies that offer kits while keeping the stock suspension setup. thats what i plan on doing. IFS is the online term i think.

i saw zone kits and i think i might go with them. i want to spend about $2,500-$3,500 max including rims/tires. i will install everything myself.

about $1300-2,000 for lift kit but does it include brake lines and other needed things?

i can get 18" rims and 35" tires for about $1600-1800

i want to plasti dip the chrome parts too. about $20

install my stereo/ipod have everything except wire adapter and din filler $40

if you have any suggestions, info or advice you think i should know please post it.

also saw the patman grill. awsome idea. thats what made me sign up. i want to do something similar. i want to relocate the ford emblem from the center to the lower right corner of the grill while keeping the honeycomb pattern.

grab a zone 6" lift 35's may look a little goofy so keep that in mind

if I had a $3500 budget I'd grab a 3" PA body lift with a 6" zone suspension for about $1600 find some wheels for about $500 17's or 18's and buy some tread wright 35's for about 500-600 then you'll be under budget and can grab a few odds and ends to make it to your liking... just my opinion good luck and I look forward to following your build

Tire size and tranmission lif will depend greatly on what you factory gears are along with which trans. I'd be looking at a Zone 6". I have seen several regular cabs that are able to clear 37's with just a 6" and turning up the torsion bars to level them. If you have 3.08's or 3.55's you will want to upgrade to 4.10's or 4.56's. I'm running 4.10's and preparing to run 36's.

this is what i was thinking so far. not going to order anything for few weeks so it might change by the time i buy.

rims/tires $1770: http://www.ebay.com/itm/17-X-9-XD-RO...1f846c&vxp=mtr

lift $1300: http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-ZONE-OFFRO...3920d4&vxp=mtr

radio kit $10: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stereo-Radio...67aaaf&vxp=mtr

black plasti dip: $20

need to find 60/40 seats or 50/50 or something with a arm rest. if anyone knows of any near me let me know. i hate the bench i need bit more comfort.

will the ext cab seats fit my single cab? also would the supercrew seats fit?

Mudd terrains your gona be lucky if you get half of that on road use with a super aggressive tread. thats why i wanted a all terrain.

Look at rimzoneonline.com for wheels/tires. The zone offroad kit is a decent kit to go with. Yes look at your door tag under axle and post the code and we can tell you what gears you have. Being you have a 4.2 your going to need gears anyways with 35's. Your truck will be gutless without doing gears at all.

i cant find pics of 18" rockstar wheels on 97-03 f150. for some reason i think they look bad ***. if you have any other suggestions for rims let me know. what offset did you order?

i like black rims but i can paint them too.
