Default stolen truck bought back

well here is the story the really short version

I bought a truck locally from a guy, turns out it was stolen anyhow, it was seized from me and I am out my money I paid for it. After argueing with the collection agency hired to find the truck, they offered it to me for 17,600 truck got seized and when at the impound, someone stole the VIN off the door and the VIN on the dash is missing. The truck is now home in caring hands to be put back on the road .

See really short version

Kids named it Sully from Monsters inc,... welcome home Sully

AHH, well it's a good looking truck. Its funny.. I could never figure out why or what people do when they steal a car. I always figured they just steal it and drive it around for whatever reason or sell parts off it. But I've heard horror stories about what condition the vehicles were in when recovered.
My brother had his 88 toyota pickup stolen and he recovered it himself about 2 months later 5 blocks away from his house in an apartment complex. Of coarse the steering column had been torn up along with ignition but for some reason whoever stole it decided to take a razor knife to the seats and put about 20 slices down it, some through the padding. Popped out all the heater vents, pulled the stomp pad off the floor, broke 2 holes in the heater bezel, somehow broke the door handle on the inside, replaced the shifter with an aftermarket one, cut a bunch of wires under the dash and a number of other things... and for what? who knows, probably just sat out there tweaking tearing stuff apart for no reason.

good luck with the speedo issue

ya Toyz, I originally bought it for the engine as my 2001 needs an engine very soon. When I saw what it was and asked to buy the complete truck he said sure but it has a DO NOT REPAIR VIN on it. he wanted me to part it out. When I went to get it inspected cause it was too much a good truck to part out, that is when all he!! broke loose. been a ride ever since and I was fighting to keep the truck.

Are you serious? Is that a 7700 series also? So you 3 LD trucks?!? You lucky son of a gun.

I've seen maybe 3 for sale here in AZ and all have been XL's. nothing even close to that nice. Man I want 1 of those so bad.......... heavy duty suspension, bigger rearend, stock 4.10s.. superduty tranny.. ahhh what a truck.

I just looked at the last picture.. it's a Lariat too!!! Ahh that's the exact truck I want.. Is it a 5.4 too?!?

Tonyroc14,
the truck was stolen when I bought it (i didn't know at the tjme) so it was never mine. Because I reported it stolen, the truck was seized. The truck belonged to the insrance company as they paid out the original owner. I wanted the truck and kept track of it all the time. because the VIN was stolen, they were only able to sell me the frame/engine and tranny. I found out this past weekend, the body has the matching vin that they couldn't find. I know where they are because of ripping apart the white 2001 7700. It is a complete truck. The insurance company signed over the title of the VIN and any parts containing the VIN.

AZFX4,
yes, it is a loaded Lariat (no rear slider or sunroof)and yes, that means I have 3 7700's but 1 (white) is all tore apart for the body swap on my baby (gold one) this 3rd one is so I can pull the 5th wheel this summer. This way I can take my time this summer to swap out the first two. eventually, one will be for sale

Also the axle ratio in the 7700's is factory 3.73's (B6) and the optional 4.10's are on the regular cab XL's

the blue 2003, I have all the service and repair records from Ford.

thanks guys
