I had the same issue in my 03. I changed my U joints, and the problem went away. I bought moog u joints and they are great. Just make sure you grease them up properly.

Hi Maxwell. My 89 F150 has been doing almost the exact stuff. How have you done with your diagnosis and repair?

Haven't gotten around to putting the new u-joints in yet. Been busy putting in new hard brake lines, soft lines, calipers, rotors, and pads. It's more or less my winter vehicle so I haven't been rushing to get it done.

w0lvez- How would the spare tire be squeaking?

I noticed creaky rubbing noise when I would back into my driveway. When I would put truck into neutral when coasting backwards, the noise stops. It's now doing it in drive, also. The noise cycles slow down as the truck slows down. There is a slight clunk when shifted into reverse, nothing major.

When the tire looses pressure the tire is wiggling causing the Squeeking sound. Try moving the tire back and forth if you can move it using your hand you need to add more air to it.

Will definitely look into that! This truck used to be my fathers and I know he didn't take much care of it the past few years.

My squeak first started only when going in reverse, but has progressively turned into doing it at any time I step on the gas. Sounds like the same exact thing I have.

Will hopefully have the new u-joints in this week and will be checking the spare as suggested by w0lvez.
