Annoying clicking sound in rear of truck?!?!
I have a clicking sound that is rythmic I think with the revolution of either the wheel or driveshaft. It is a very loud clicking. It does not do it all the time. I notice it most often at slow speeds (approxmately 0-25mph). It will do it when I am coasting, braking, accelerating, and turning. It does not seem to matter what I am doing, as long as I am going at a slow speed. I will say that I do notice the most often when I am braking to a stop. But as I said, it has done it in all the above scenarios.
I sprayed the u-joints with wd40. I also remove all of my wheel center caps (thinking that they were the culprit). Niether of these fixed it. There are no nails or rocks in my tire treads either. Please...any suggestions on what to try next would be great.

oh, and my vehicle is a 2002 F150 Screw 4x4 5.4L with a Fabtech 6" lift kit.

This is the very same thing I have and the same truck. Did you find out what it was?

See...sometimes Wd40 doesnt fix everything....Wd40 on Ujoints is like taking medication that is only ment to make you feel better. Replacing the U-Joint is a sure way of fixing the the problem if it is the U-joint just as plenty of rest when you are sick to get better

I have this same problem and have been told u-joint or axle bearing..? Looking like the consensus here is u-joint but would like to hear some more input on the axle bearing possibility

I would point finders at the u joints right away...
But in these trucks with drum brakes (all 97-03 had drum brakes in the rear, e-brake or primary) they are known to let springs go, or hold down pins, even shoes delaminating, adjuster cable etc ...
Check u joints, rear drums, u bolts wheel bearings...
Although bearings usually growl and not click check em anyway

I went ahead and picked up a u joint today and for 13.99 figured its worth a shot. Either way it probably needs done. How hard is this job?
