Default alt on its way out?

howdy everyone, need some help/advice on if yal think my alternator is on its way out of if it's somethin else. as of the past week or so whenever i have my lights on and am on the brakes or ideling my head/tail and dash/hvac lights all flicker/pulsate, not bad but noticable and annoyingly. they all flicker rapidly (seems like with rpms) but doesn't do it when on the gas. rpms and gauges all are normall, truck runs fine otherwise. batt is just a couple months old, alt is original with 144k, thinkin of just throwin a new acdelco one on there and getting it over with anyways. thanks in advance for any info, truck is a 2000 with 4.6

actually the alt just came in today so haven't put it in yet but the other day i swapped out the alternator fuse and havent noticed and more flickering inside or out since so thinkin it may have been that instead but il prob swap out the alt anyways since it has 144k miles and a good coat of mud/dust, rekon it cant hurt lol

I dont reckon it could hurt to replace it lol. I replaced my alternator back in August and after that the battery light would come on every now and then and the flickering started. Haven't seen the battery light for a while now, but the flickering is still there and is annoying. What is the fuse you replaced?

Yep, those in line alt fuses short like that. It's not the fuse, it's the connector. If they're not inserted into the connector just perfect they'll do that. It sure can take some time figuring that one out lol.
