Default 1997 F150 airbag plug not connecting

So I swapped my steering wheel with an identical one from a junkyard.
The airbag block is what was on my car. The wiring pigtail is the original one as well. The airbag plug will now not click in, it gets in 1/2 way, and will not go further and will not click in.
Any one have this happen ?
Thanks.
Srinath.

@akdoggie
97-98 use a different connector. 99 up use a different one. I ran into this w my Gator wheel swap. I had to change the connector or the wheel to match the bag plug.

My 07 Mustang was the same way when I swapped in a Boss steering wheel and added audio controls

OK, that's what I thought you had told me. Thanks for verifying my memory, LOL.

look in the plug. I think you will find different terminal styles. They usually can't go together.

I am using the same parts that were in my truck. The connector was in the harness - I took the steering wheel with the cruise buttons out, swapped that from the junkyard one and am trying to reconnect the original airbag from my 97 into the original 97 harness. The exact same 2 I disconnected just minutes ago.

Then you've bent one of the pins.

I see receptacles for pins in the one connected to the wiring harness and going through the steering wheel, and they look clean and straight and clear. On the part in the airbag/horn pillow - I see no pins. I'll try to get pic in a bit. Its almost like something has "clicked" out on the airbag side when it was unplugged and will not "unclick" till something else is done.

Correct, there is a male and a female end.

But yes, grab a pic. That would be helpful.
