Default accelerator cable bracket 2003 5.4L

Hi, has anyone ever replaced the accelerator cable bracket? It connects to the side of the throttle body and has a small plastic stud on side where the cruise control cable connects.

The bracket seems to be pressed onto the throttle body but I don't want to start hammering on it.

Does it require special tools or just a big pry bar?

Thanks.

The cable you can get off very easy with a screwdriver.

It's not the cable--I'm talking about the bracket that attaches to the throttle body. The cables sit on the bracket. I have a pic from another post that I'll paste here.

Why do you need to remove that bracket? You'll probably have to replace the whole throttle body it's machine pressed into it

front view of accelerator cable bracket

side view of bracket--see bronze colored (pressed?) fitting at bottom center of photo. also note how molded stud at top center is worn into an oval shape.

I need to remove because the molded stud that attaches to the cruise control cable got worn down and the cruise cable pops off. See images. The pressed fitting appears to the bronze-ish rectangular-ish fitting. I can source the bracket from a parts dealer (Ford no longer makes them) so it would seem like it can be removed/installed short of replacing the entire throttle body (????). At least I hope so.

Why not just source a used throttle body and not deal with the hassle of trying to get a machine shop to make it happen.

10 cent fix, drill a tiny hole after the cruise control cable and put a small cotter pin in it. I'll take a pic and post it later. Worked perfectly the last 10k miles had the same problem

Thanks. Will give it a shot in a day or two. In the middle of moving so tools are packed up! If you have time to post a pic that would be awesome. Durwood

Victory! Thanks for the cotter pin idea. Not sure if this is what you described but it was a snap. Took just a few minutes--drilled a hole in the stud then lined up the part that clips onto it and then eyeballed the location of another hole through that.

Cotter pin slipped right in and voila. It works fine now. Thanks to all for the suggestions.
