Aftermarket oil pressure sending unit into factory gauge?
Ive been researching for a few hours on this topic and I just cannot get a definitive answer.....
I am wanting to remove my factory oil pressure switch, and install an actual pressure sensor
My questions....
1, Is it possible to wire directly into the gauge?
2. Do i HAVE to have the OEM for the PCM?
3. What modifications will I have to do? Remove any resistors?
4. What are the specs on the threads of the OEM unit?
5. Does anyone have a part number for a good sender and/or have done this?
Im trying to get the most straight forward answer to see what plan of attack I want to go with, and to help others googling this with no straight answer.

So the aftermarket wont give the PCM a signal?
Curious as to how the switch will differ from the sender unit, I understand the switch is open until a certain pressure, then the switch closes, so then how exactly does the real gauge work so that it doesnt give a signal?

Any way to get it reprogrammed for a mechanical sender? I know the easy route is the external gauge, I'm just driven by curiosity.
