To answer your question about ignition and the lights though, no that doesn't mean it's ok.
The start circuit of the switch is independent of the accessory and run circuit on the switch.
Not exactly the same thing. Solenoid is on the starter and the relay is on the firewall.

Alright. That's the solenoid I've been talking about. The one on the firewall. F492 I believe is the autozone pn.
Wasn't aware there was another on the starter, so I learned something today. I guess there would have to be to throw the bendix?

You got it and I learned that on here too some time ago.

It's actually a solenoid. Its what it is called. The one on the starter is also a solenoid. These trucks have to. One to carry the high amperage draw of the starter and the other is to engerize the bend as it does not require a lot of amperage. Use a test light an test the lead that goes to the starter solenoid on the fire wall and see if you have voltage when trying to start the truck.

Well now my mind is blown. I said that to someone on here more than a year ago and got fed completely erroneous info by a more experienced member.

When I searched starter relay on rockauto and found this so naturally believed him.

Y'all are both right, it's pedantic, really.
A solenoid is just a form of heavy-duty relay.

Fair enough rusty. You dont see too many opportunities to use pedantic in every day forum activities. Well said.
