98 F150 Lariat Build - SportsmanJake
#12
Refocus: I have decided to divide my goals into 2 categories: "Upkeep" and "Add-Ons". I am doing this because I want to place an equal if not larger focus on the upkeep section in order to increase the life of my truck. I have purchased the 97-03 F150 Service Manual (PM me if you want a digital copy) and have a diagnostic reader coming in the mail too.
Upkeep:
* Find a spare wheel and tire
* Engine Tune Up (replace all fluids) (Have a shop replace plugs)
* Fix Check Engine light
* Big 3 Electrical upgrade
* Repair/replace torn leather seat
* Replace torn Headliner
* Rusty Undercarriage (I am thinking a wire brush + Rustoleum rusty metal primer)
* Fix slightly bent bumper
* Enquire about repairing paint delamination (probably will be obscenely expensive)
Add-Ons:
* Yakima Roof Tracks
* Yakima MegaWarrior
* Grill Lights
* Roof Lights
* Rear Lights
* CB Radio
* Expedition center console (97-98)
* Aux Battery
* On board Air Compressor (very low priority)
What do y'all think?

Under the Hood
Just rolled over 140,000.
So last week I had my engine coolant, transmission fluid, and rear differential fluid changed.
I also changed the air filter with one I bought at Wal Mart.
I have purchased a fuel filter and a new serpentine belt as well as some MAF cleaner.
On friday I pulled the fuel pump fuse and ran the starter a few times to release the fuel pressure. I was underneath there for at least an hour but could not get one of the connectors off the old filter. I had almost no room because of a skid plate. I am thinking I am going to give it another shot soon but remove the skid plate first. So that was disappointing.
I also sprayed down the MAF being very careful not to touch it.
I am still throwing the codes P0171 and P0174. Not sure how to fix those.
And this morning when I started my truck, the battery light did not turn off. So that was disheartening. I think I will replace my serpentine belt, check all the fuses, check the battery, and clean my terminals before having my alternator(130amp) rebuilt.
Does anyone think that me messing with the fuse box had anything to do with the battery light?
Oh, and I found the trucks Ford service guide booklet. The PO had filled it out up to 60,000 miles. I bought the truck at 95,000 miles. I have never replaced the plugs, and I am not sure if he had either. So that will be the first thing I do as soon as I get all of the above fixed!
