Default 98 f150 anti theft?

I'm looking at installing a bulldog rs82 remote start. I have a 98xl, manual locks and windows. The bulldog manual dates that this truck has an anti theft system and needs a by-pass module? My keys are not chipped and I have no clicker with a chip or transponder, truck runs and drives fine with Walmart, non chipped keys. Is it possible that my truck, being very basic, doesn't have the anti-theft system and won't need the bypass module?

I don't think the patts came out till 99 so you should be fine.

Is there some way I can check if it has the system before installing the remote start?

You don't have it! You answered your own question as soon as you told us your truck runs with normal "walmart" cut keys.

You'd have a chipped key if It has the pats. Yours doesn't have it so your fine.
