98 4.6L cyl. #3 misfire
Problem started in Feb. 08.
Engine just started to run rough, misfire, no power.
CEL came on, Cyl. #3 misfire.
Replaced plug, ran better for about 10 miles, CEL on again, same code.
Replaced wires, ran better for about 10 miles, CEL on again, same code.
Replaced both coil packs, CEL on again, same code.
Replaced #3 injector, CEL on again, same code.
Replaced fuel filter, horray, problem gone, engine running great, for about 4k miles.
Problem came back last Sunday.
CEL on again, same code, cyl. #3 misfire
Replaced fuel filter again, engine still running poorly, no CEL this time.
Took vehicle to dealer, they ran... EEC Test, Power Balance Test, Ignition System Test.
Found cylinders 3 & 4 misfiring, cleaned plugs and replaced plugged PCV valve.
Vehicle ran great for about 50 miles, now engine running rough again but no CEL.
What else is left ?
Very frustated, any ideas?
