I bought this ford and the past couple weeks i started gettn a high pitch whine and its been shifting hard and at high rpm but it only has 128 thousand on it
Would it be the trans or could it be the rear end going out

What year? Engine? Trans? Pull your trans dip stick and see if the fluid smells burnt. does the high pitch whine get louder at any certain speed? Does it stop when you let off the gas?

Its a 1997 with a 4.6 and no it just whunes when i goto take off then once its out of first its gone
