97 f150 need manifold work done, no one wants to do the work???
Just bought a 97 f150 and took it to two people who both say it needs a manifold, both sides. One place wouldn't even give an exact quote, the price ranged from 900 to 3500. Took it to another place and the guy said its so much work, he isn't interested at all. Out of luck with this truck already I feel, located in North East PA and looking to find someone to do the work. I dont have a garage to do anything myself, nor the tools or time. If anyone knows what route I should be taking. I feel like getting rid of the damn truck already, with this being such an in depth problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much

I feel youre pain if its already inspected why worry about it I just bought a 99 two weeks ago failed inspection for exhaust leak and ball joints Today I pulled the inner fender on passenger side and saw a hole rusted through the manifold gonna be a fun weekend

MY 97 4.6 started to get loud around the exhaust manifold. What happened
was the stud bolts had rusted right through where it's bolts to the exhaust
pipe. Found a local muffler shop that burned them out and put SS bolts and
nuts and tightened them right up, and she is quiet again. Common with ford
on that year. When I went to the shop and ask them if they could do that, the mechanic knew what year I had. Took two hours, and cost $125.00. Tuffy Muffler wanted to to drill them out and replace with factory studs, I just figured they were going to charge allot more than that job should cost.

I have a 97 with the 5.4 that had the typical stub breakage. I had Cole Muffler do mine because many auto shops would not touch it. It cost between $300-400 less than 2 years ago. I am in NY, but not sure if you have a Cole in your area.
Hope this helps.
