97 F150 cranks but wont start
#12
Ok I've found the problem, after looking at the crankshaft position sensor I see that its disconnected and looks like the wire has been rubbing on I think the ac compressor. I placed the part back where it goes and the truck started up just fine. So now I just have to replace the wire and should be back on the road. Thanks for helping me diagnose and look into other problems.

Follow the selections to your truck and engine. Go under the electrical connector section and it is in there. They have some of the best prices on the web

Ok I've found replacements but the connector looks different to what the one I need to replace, maybe it isn't the crankshaft sensor, the part I'm looking for was placed right behind the ac compressor, facing straight up, rectangular shaped with one notch to make sure it goes in right. I looked into it position the camshaft connector as well but that doesn't look like the right one either.

Thanks Tleach I found it in there. Its the A/C Compressor Connector that I was looking for and was broke on my truck. Thanks for all your help.
Recap - truck stopped working one morning, checked all around didn't see the broke connector on first inspection, checked all other posibilities from fuel to spark, then learned about the wiring a little better so checked all the possible connection that are needed and stumbled across the broken connector, caused from wiring plug holders coming loose and wire rubbing against the belt (i believe) now just going to order replacement and install.

Corroded Negative Ground Wire
I know it sounds crazy but we just went through this...running fine one minute then dead. After a week of trying everything, it was the negative ground wire corroded-once that was cleaned and tightened up she started right up!
