has anyone here ever fit 6x9's in a 97 (or other years that are the same) f150? factory speakers are 6x8

yeah you have to cut out the hole a little bit in the front. The backs a little bit harder because the speaker is mounted different so it makes for a harder cut its mounted on like a ridge and you have to cut down it kinda to make it fit. But it works

you can just get a nice 6.5 comp set and be much happier, sound will be better, louder, clearer, mids will be deaper, etc

you have got to be high to say that x9's sound better than component sets, they require slight mod to fit but thats just making a plate as the stock size is 5x7/6x8, they allow crisper higher sounds, and allow you to position the sound for better staging

No , you said LOUDER . Yes a Component set will sound better , but you said they would be Louder and that is false . Not only are components better for Staging , but for Imaging and overall Tonal Balance as well .
