Agreed, my question is why bypass the nice comfort of the heater?

Well, right now I don't have time to pull the dash etc. necessary to change the core.....is there another way to maintain heat?

Not to my knowledge, what is the year and vehicle? It will help for instructions on heater core replacement.

If you had the '87-'96 vintage, it takes about as much time rounding up the tools and putting them away as it does actually changing the core - it's real simple with EZ access.

As to the '97s and newer - I have no idea what's involved. Suggest to look underneath the glove box door for an access cover to the heater core. Hopefully Ford didn't quit putting in this 'better idea'.

Done that a few times over the years till I could replace a core. No problems, but it is getting winter time now.

I think there was just recently a thread on heater core replacement. If I remember correctly, on the 97 and up you have to take pretty much the entire dash apart.
