Bought a 2002 motor to replace the bad one in my 1999 F-150. Motor has 60,000 miles on it. So what would you replace on it being its out and I would rather not have to try and replace when its in the truck?
Heres what I bought the other day from a guy online.



I also have the oil pan gasket, and O-ring for the water tube under the intake. Also new Thermostat and gasket.
Will be replacing the rear and front oil seals.
All new hoses?
How about full timing chain's and all that goes with them?
Would I be dumb to replace the oil pump also?
Going to find out to test both injectors and coils?
New Spark plugs?
new oil gasket as mine has the oil filter behind the front bumper.
New bolts and exhaust gaskets.
Thinking new Fan clutch?
New heater core?

Anything you can think of please let me know. Don't want to do this but one time. Right now with the truck, parts and replacement motor have less them $1500. in it.


Guy is looking up the info on the trans. As the truck has 220,000 miles on it. And he thinks the first owner had to have it rebuilt around 120,000 miles but hes not sure. If it was may run it, if not may have it rebuilt as its going to be easy to get out while I have the motor out.

This is a 1999 F-150 standard cab stepbed 4x4 nice old truck. That I'm going to use to pull the boat and as my daily driver.
Right now I drive this all the time. But need a 4x4 some also.

CHT sensor. It's under the intake manifold and it's a pain to get to without taking the intake off. I got one off tasca parts and the mechanic that was helping me said for now on he's replacing that on 4.6 and 5.4's when they put new motors in them because it was that much of a pain. And might as well do plugs and new boots and springs on the coils

Thanks I did see that under there. But had no ideal what it was or what it does.
Forgot I do have new plugs boots and springs.

cylinder head temp sensor it'll throw a coolant temp code and a new one is pretty cheap

Thanks did a search on it after seeing you post.
Also being the truck has been sitting for 38 months. After the motor dropped oil pressure, would I be ahead of the game to pull the fuel tank and make sure its clean? Or just pump it out and try it the way it is?
Will also be pulling the brake fluid out and replacing it also. AS I know with it sitting there that long It not in the best of shape. And figure its never been changed...

Search for the fix on coolant tube to back the water pump hosing. Just me but, i would also do timing chains and guides. i'd also add oil pressure sensor as there a pain to get to.
