Default 5th wheel hitch F150 SCREW

Has anyone installed a companion(or similar) 5th wheel hitch in their F150 Screw? I'm looking at possibly buying a 5th wheel camper for my 2002 F150 5.4 and would like to install a used hitch myself. If so was it hard or just time consuming?
Thanks

Would the 5.5' bed of a screw even be big enough for a fifth wheel

It will work but it needs a roller 5th wheel hitch, which is more expensive.

I'm not sure I've seen a half ton pulling a fifth wheel. Empty weight is all of our towing capacity or more.

Depends on your upgrades and how you drive. I could prolly smoke the back tired with a 5th wheel and trailer connected now.

I towed a 27 foot fith wheel with a 1996 single cab short bed. Had a 300 six and 5 speed, 218,000 miles. Took some time getting to sped but it worked fine. All I did was add some air shocks in the rear

My father in law towed a 5th wheel with a '98 or '99 Chevy 1500 and an '04 F150 Scab. He is still driving the '04 (but not towing with it anymore).

My 2000 with 5.4 can pull my 5th wheel all day. Only recommendation is getting some airbags for the rear. Helps keep the load level, here is a picture before I had the airbags.

Those 300s will pull almost anything though
