Default Jumped Curb Hard (No appearent damage?)

Hey all, yesterday I was driving and went to make a U-turn (dumb I know) and long story short I popped onto a curb pretty hard and chipped one rim and destroyed the right tire (some rebar dug into the tire)

From just crawling under the truck it appears to just be very slightly scratched from driving up and over and back down the curb but has no serious damage that I can see... Drives completely normal with my spare on.

Did I get lucky and not break anything or could I be missing something and should take it to a shop to be inspected for damage?

Need to check the upper control arm, and steering arm. If you cracked a wheel I'm willing to bet it goes father than that. It's also possible you cracked a lower ball joint and might not even know. These steering parts are pretty weak in situations like that.

Knew it was probably to good to be true. How would I tell if I cracked the lower ball joint? Both upper control arms appeared to be fine but I can take some pics and inspect more thoroughly later

Did you drive the truck home on a spare? I had a front tire fender bender didn't even chip a wheel only scuffed it and the bumper. Cost me 500$ in parts

I was 2 minutes from home, I drove her there on the slashed tire, then replaced it with the spare.. Then drove it 20min to work this morning.... Seemed to turn fine and handle bumps normally but I was driving it like a grandma.. Going to inspect on my break

Might want to get an alignment in the near future, but the front end suspension and steering components can take some abuse. If anything is bent , it should be very noticeable when driving. Specially on the e-way, - it'll pull one way or another if it's out of wack any.

Sounds to me like the tire absorbed most if not all of it...RIP.

That's false as can be. You have no idea what his steering is like. I couldn't tell my lower ball joint was cracked and the pitman arm was bent to the frame. To be safe he should have the whole thing checked out of it did enough damage to pop a tire and crack a wheel then chances are there's more to it.

Just got under my truck, both upper control arms appear in perfect condition. Ball joints seemed fine looking at them, but from your reply I assume looks can be deceiving. How can I tell that the joints are broken if they can appear fine but be broken?

Everything looks fine except my tires the front two just got rekt. On the plus side I wanted some matte black rims anyways got a good reason to buy them 😜

I hope that is the case... If this 18 year old truck just took a retarded beating and is driving besides the tires, then Ford has earned a life long customer... I've always scoffed at the 'Built Ford tough' but not anymore

Not false, but there's always the exception, - you just met it. I always assume common sense...at first!

It sounds like he has it. In your case, your better off having someone else do the simplest things for you.

It's like I said OP, - you can handle it and your thinking is straight.
