Default 5 speed transmission

I have a 1997 F.150 4.2 5 speed manual. When im in 5th gear on the high way going about 60-75 or so it sounds and feels like you need to shift again. any suggestions.

good ole 4.2 5spd type in your vin and google it... or look for the tag on the dif and it should have like a letter and a number and look that up too see what gearing you have... i would assume you have 3:55's... but you probably need 3:07's

Unfortunately there is not much you can do for cheap. The overdrive on your transmission is only 20% compared to 30% with the auto. If you regear you will get decreased acceleration on take off. Gear Venders sell overdrive unites but they cost a lot. I learned to live with mine.
