Default 5.4 Triton Oil - Synthetic vs non

I realize this is an age old subject, but can't searrch out good answers for the 5.4 V8. I purchasef 6 quarts of regular motor oil 5W-20 for my 03 F150 FX4 with 55,000 miles. It's ready for it's first change since I purchased it a year ago Oct. 2013,(2,000 miles in a year) only to read the owner's manuel which states use synthetic oil. Not certain what dealer put in at time of purchase.
Can I use the regular oil, not synthetic and a Fram filter????????

I would use motorcraft oil and filter in it. Personally I ignore the recommended weight and run 5w-30 in every ford I own.

You can use regular oil, you can use synthetic.

OEM uses semisynthetic motorcraft. Any is fine, you can switch from one to another then back without consequences.

You should change it more frequently than once a year though. 6 month stretches max.

I personally run the purolator pure one filter in all my vehicles, (except my wifes Hyundai which I put OEM filters in) I think they're the best filter for the money.

Shrug, I ran non synthetic for years. Swapped to a synthetic oil this year, as I have got some good deals on them, and went with a mobil 1 filter. I notice that oil pressure light does not stay lit @ start up even after letting the truck sit for days at a time. WHen I used to pay for the service, I'm sure they were putting el cheapo filters in there and the anti drainback valve were lame or nonexistant.

Just use the recommended blend. Don't full syn it, it may go into shock, have convulsions and die. Not kidding!

That's just what can happen going to full syn in a high mileage engine without flushing the crank first.

Use that owners manual and everything should be peaches..
