Default CV axle nightmare

I own a 2003 F150 5.4 L 4x4, I got the truck with 285/75's and a "leveling kit"

My CV axles were getting real bad so I replaced them with new ones from NAPA. I replaced the axles and after a ton of headaches and 2 busted front axle housings (found out this is a common problem in these trucks) I am realizing I need FORD CV axles due to any other replacements I get causing binding. Through the FORD dealer they are around $400 a piece. Any suggestions on where I can get CV axles that will work for cheaper?

New axles have the wrong outer and inner joints. They dont allow enough movement up or down causing binding. Just go to Napa and get REMAN units. When they bring them out, check and make sure the inner and outer joints still have the Ford stamp on them when they were cast.

If the Cardones work I see I can order them off rock auto for $45.79. Are the Cardones for sure Ford remans? I just would hate to order them and have the same problem.....What makes the cardones work over the rest? So far I tried new from NAPA, remans from autozone and advanced auto....all causing the binding.....I can try and get remans from NAPA that are Ford Stamped.....

Yea bill, I'd be a little cheesed off. I haven't heard of this issue with knock-off cvc axles/half shafts. What I have heard is you'll get your longevity out of them, them being actual Motocraft remans parts...Well, the important parts of it anyway. I just felt better knowing I was getting Motorcraft remans.

Same thing with brakes, I wanted Motorcraft calipers with STEEL pistons for the 150, because I was pulling a care hauler quite a bit at one time. Again, cardone had the only Motorcraft rebuilds with the set up and they VERIFIED before placing the order.

Sorry about that, but yea, first Time I've heard of the issue your having...There's nothing in the TSB's about it. Call them man.

Surprised though, -NAPA is usually pretty good.

They should be all the same, the motorcraft part numbers you gave are the same part just that the 5L3Z-3B436-A is the new number. the bottom numbers, if im not mistaken are just half shafts
