Default 5.4 rebuild

Last year my engine crapped out so I purchased a used one with around 90k with the intention of rebuilding my old one. Well its a year later and im ready to start it up now. Im not really interested in building a street rod just a bulletproof reliable motor. Of course if I can squeeze a few more hp out of it without breaking the bank im all for it. Im not to interested in going fi but not totally against it.
My plan is to bring the block to get machined possibility bore it .30 and everything that goes with that. Maybe getting the heads reworked and cammed. My question is to others that have done this before what was the hp/tq gains and the final dollar amount.
Im open to suggestions so hit me up. Also try to convince me to go fi

This question has been asked a million times.

Do some searching on lightning rodder.com ot even some mustang forums. Those guys rebuild motors. Only a select number of people on this site build motors.

Cams will run you about $1k - $1.5k for BA ones. That is the best investment next to a aftermarket intake manifold that you can do. Both those can easily make 150-175 HP. I dont suggest going with anything along the lines of forced induction. A supercharger will get maybe 75-100hp for $3k... :/

If your taking it to a shop, ask the mechanic if he can do it on the side, worst he can say is no. Ive saved over $2k last time I upgraded parts because there is no part markup, or high labor costs.

Blower swap cost me 950. Cams cost 650

Rockers valves and springs cost 1k+ not counting guides.

Cams only get you about 30-60hp max

With a BA aftermarket intake manifold, you can get well over 100+

A simple Ford Racing aluminum intake manifold will bump up more HP than you think. There only about $250, and are not that hard to install. If Im not mistaken, Edelbrock makes a intake manifold for the 5.4 2v
