Default 5.4 Intech swap questions

hello
I have been thinking of swapping in a 5.4 DOHC from a navigator into my 1997 f150 4x4 5.4 (has the e4OD transmission) and I have a few questions that I haven't been able to find answers for
1.Can I use my factory wiring harness and pcm? (I know I will need a tune)
2.Is the E4OD compatible with the 4 valve?
3.Do I have to swap the whole engine or can I just swap the heads, intake manifold/throttle body, timing covers, chains and valve cover?

Not as simple as you think. The coils use a reverse polarity. You would have to change some things. I would NOT use a NPI 5.4 bottom end with 4v heads. Thats asking for trouble.

Damn I was thinking about this to do eventually too lmao. Why is it asking for trouble to use a NPI 5.4 bottom end?

ok, so I will need to use the entire navigator engine then. as for the coils being reverse polarity is that fixed by using the navigator wiring harness
I did a little more research and found out that I will need to use a 2 valve oil pan and pick up tube

You realize the 4v moves your power band up to get that 300hp right and actually decreases low end Tq? If you're towing or drive a 4x4 like a 4x4 the 2v is still the best option. ..even over the ****ty 3v.

I already had a 4v built and I was going to swap it in but realized I'd make more usable power with a cammed 2v.

Custom Tune
Long Tubes (Not available for 4v's)
MPH Torquer Cams
Electric Fans
Throttle Body
CAI (We're not stock at this point so it does benefit.)

Or you can jump on the band wagon and do a Lightning blower swap. (..Make sure you get enough fuel.)

If you can pull an engine you can swap in a 4v. It's not hard at all. The 4v will probably be cheaper and easier but do you really want to spin the motor every time you need the extra power?

Wrong! You wont be able to use a Navigator harness without repinning both the connectors of the engine harness. For 97-98 its not quite plug and play like it is for 99-03 truck. The 4v wasnt offered in a Navigator until 00.

Actually stock vs stock they are very close. I owned a navigator. My tuned navigator made as much torque as my stock 2v at almost the same exact RPM. 2700 vs 2400. But you are correct its not worth it for just 40hp. Also a cold air induction kit doesnt benefit. I have tried three different ones and saw all of 2-3hp on a dyno. This was done with out the inner fender liner with a 15000CFM shop fan blowing into the fender well. The only thing that help was the main tubing to the TB. It helped tip in throttle response, along with reclocking the 90mm LMAF cleaned up the MAF signal.

To the op: You would be better off doing a PI head swap with cams. You'll have more power, more torque, and alot less head aches. I currently have a high CR Pi swapped 5.4 on E85. Making more power and torque than you could with a 4v. In the long run its slightly more expensive but you get more bang for you buck .

What all do you need to do the PI head swap? I'm not talking about the main things or just basics, I'm talking about everything you have to do to make the PI heads and intake work with a NPI block and everything else that goes with the swap
