My goal on sunday is to:
Again i should have everything done by the 13th Dont want to set the schedule to ahead of myself...
- Drop fuel tank (again)
- Install proper fuel pump
- Install fuel tank...Prey that the float / gauge needle works this time. (currently shows E & low fuel)
- Remove fan & fan shroud - Is this reverse threaded? How did ya get that sucker off?

Got some dis-assembly done. The following was completed:
-Drained coolant
-Removed p.s bracket
-Removed cold air intake
-Remove alternator
-Removed 8 coils
-upper radiator hose
-Took out several vac lines
All that remains is to remove the EGR valve and loosen the 2 rear intake manifold bolts and then the whole manifold will come out (hopefully tomorrow)

Went ahead and did that. Is this what everyone else has done? Fordmotorspot can you verify? Do i have to swap belt sizes? or will my stock belt still work?
New L - alt with old pulley
Another question. look at rear portion of the gasket at the bottom. It overhangs past the intake. Are these the gaskets everyone else used?
Here's the intake out:

I ordered my alternator from madenterprise so I'm guessing it was setup, I will look at it tonight and get back to you. For some reason I thought most 5.4 were 8 rib?
I guess I don't see the piece that is overhanging on the intake? Do you have a closer image.
I had my old belt installed but decided to buy new since I was already in there.
Don't forget to unplug your knock sensor while the intake is off. It is the one in the middle of the valley. Just unplug it and leave it in there.

I would NOT unplug the knock sensor...just have the tuner adjust for it..or turn it off in the tune
I am glad I had mine still working. I had a bad tank of fuel once and the knock sensor saved my motor when it went to lean and started to ping
I had a tune with it off and would run it when I had "good" fuel at the track but daily driving I ran the tune with the knock sensor on

Will work for parts
I can't really see the intake gasket in the pic, but if you look bit should be the same. The reason that one will hang over is that the heads are designed to be reversible. So the rear passenger side will look like something could or should bolt up there. But nothing does, it's where the thermostat sits in the intake on the front driver's side.
Clear as mud right if it is what I am thinking it is totally normal. And not all 5.4's are 8 rib belts some like yours are 6 rib. It's ok trust me.
