Yeah its a built 4r70w!
The truck will have the ultimate shakedown test in 4-5 days. I'm moving and towing everything I own. The trip should be around 1700 miles. I'll most likely be over the advised tow rating too. If I can get away with that then there's nothing this truck cant do! As a recap i've melted sparkplugs, gone 4x4'ing in some really nasty stuff, and had some abusive track use and the thing still runs somehow. If i can keep it alive till 200k it'd be a miracle. I'll definitely send a post trip update. 175,000mi and still kicking!

This is one of the trucks that just makes me want to tear into mine, fix the rust, drop in an L-Swapped 5.4, built tranny, and let er rip. I just don't know if I can drag up the funds do this as a 16 yr old. How much do you figure you've got into the swap? Tranny, Tune, Everything. I'm also not sure if I can deal with having no vehicle while I work on it lol

I've been following it as well - especially after I had to do head gaskets and freshen up the heads.

Realistically you can do a complete L swap for 3-5g provided you do the install. Just start slowly start finding & accruing parts over the months. A few bucks here and there spent on parts is a lot easier on the wallet. The whole swap is literally a bolt on, with the exception of extending a few wires.
You won't need a built tranny right off the bat if your sensible. Just make sure the tuner keeps some torque reduction during shifts. You can also slightly firm up the shifts to save the clutches a bit more. They are usually the first to go
