The moral of the story is, why do you need anything but 2WD on dry pavement? But yeah, any 4WD setting will damage the system on a high traction surface (Pavement, concrete, hard packed dirt etc) with the exception of 4WD Auto, but our trucks dont have that feature.

Actually, I asked in the context of " I just need to "test" my recently purchased" vehicle 4WD to make sure it's 4WD mode worked. I'm a virgin 4WD'er that purchased 4WD for emergent weather situations primarily, so I won't go looking for opportunities to use 4WD mode on a routine basis.
