Issue after launching boat...
When I launch my boat, I typically need to have the rear tires of the truck partially submerged. I park it and do my deal. I come back to the truck, start driving, hit the brakes lightly, and the rear tire or tires, unsure, lock up.
If I drive and stop a few more times, issue goes away. I am guessing the water is causing the brakes to grab more, therefore the issue I am having.
Otherwise, it's perfect for braking!
Should I worry or leave it be? Only asking because I have never had a vehicle do this. I also don't stop long enough for ABS to kick on, etc... which does work!

are you launching in sal****er? your rear rotors could be developing some surface rust while you're out on the water after being dunked when launching the boat. after a few hits on the brakes, that surface rust should come off and return to normal braking, although continually doing so is going to accelerate corrosion on everything back there. I know after my truck sits for a week of two, the first few times on the brakes are a little noisy, then business as usual.

x3 with the let it be. Mine does this when I launch my boat too... just salt in the water hanging up the brakes momentarily. Mine has really touchy brakes when I let her sit for a little bit or if there's a lot of dampness overnight.

Agreed, normal occurance. Has never hapened to me because of the 14 mile, 2900 foot elevation change, who needs brakes, need a bigger engine. PS, one boat launcher to another, keep that engine running during launch.

Oh, I know! I've seen people also loose their entire vehicle in the lake! I thought it was not a big deal but this is my first Ford, and my first truck I have personally owned so I gotta ask. I work on vehicles occasionally, but I am not launching boats with their trucks.

brakes
I had the same problem when I launched my boat. When I set the parking brake to launch the boat the brakes would not release all the way to allow me to pull forward but would allow it to roll backwards (not good on a boat ramp!). It ended up being both parking brake cables to each wheel. They were corroded. Apparantly Ford has a problem with them since they are in a plastic sleeve and tend to retain the moisture. $387.00 repair.

haha my parking brake cables did that and I just took them out but I live in florida so there are no real hill and I really have no need for them... My brakes will do that for a while ever time it rains its a little annoying but ya gotta live with it... If your backing down in salt water make sure you wash everything down back there or you will have mayjor problems down the road... BTW what kinda boat you got?

lol i moved my exhaust up to in front of the wheel with the amount i launch boats lol. but the brakes on these trucks grab if it rains overnight so its like normal operation for the system.
