The 4x4 light is always on but my switch is on 2wd..guy I got truck from says 4wd doesn't work (I'm not real sure how to check that it doesn't work myself) and that if I replace the gem module that came with truck that it would fix problem...any ideas?

Did but then talked to another guy with similar prob and gem didn't fix his 4wd..so was hoping I might get some other ops about what else might be causing the 4wd to not be working...that and then I saw a site that had instructions for installing the gem and said it was for fixing inop power windows..said nothing about the 4wd...I tried to erase the other thread I made but couldn't figure out how sorry

Why don't you installed it first and see what happens ?? Just because it did not work for somebody else don't mean it won't work for you...You got it free...

Find some pavement (probably a parking lot) put in 4wd... start driving and turn the wheel.... If the truck starts hopping 4wd is engaged if it drives normal 4wd isn't working. Wouldn't do that often or for a long period of time but it's an easy way to tell if 4wd is working
