Depends who you ask. After quite a few years, drawing from my own and others experiences, the better choice is going for a good used engine vs a reman (from anyone (even Jasper) except Ford). There's a few ways to look at it, - in very short summery and all considered, this one wins out.

I have family and know a lot of people in the ford game, there's 2 kinds of jaspers: great motors and complete garbage. If you have good luck, get one. Personally for a reman I'd be looking for smaller companies that do high dollar motors but also do stock remans, mhpengines is who built my short block. These kinds of companies have to keep a good rep in the race game,so they can't be sending garbage out.

When I had my motor replaced, the mechanic that did it (and has done many of these Triton motors) said rebuilds one these motors are hard to do correctly, and said if it was his truck he would either do a used motor ($800-$1500) or a Ford crate (~$3000).
I went with a used motor.
