Transmission Mystery
So I've got a "stock" '98 F150 w the 5.4 in her, and I've just recently swapped out radiators. Now this is the thing; when I disconnected the bottom tranny hard line it poured out about a quart ( ? ,give or take). Now I'm looking to replace the lost fluid after the new radiator is in and everything connected, BUUUT, my dipstick tells me I'm full. Telling myself that can't be right I take her out on the road and sure enough I'm having shifting issues. After a couple more road test the dipstick stays the same, but so do my problems. What am I missing??? I'm grounded till I can figure this out. Thanks in advance.

i think i would add some fluid a little at a time .see if it gets better . you can always drain it if you over fill it..mabe add some lucas trans stuff. made my 96 ranger shift better and smoother.for many years

start it and let it warm up in park... go thru every gear pausing 3 seconds between gears then get out and check the fluid level...i like to see mine between the cold and hot mark... not to empty... not too full and still has room for fluid expansion when fully warmed up... typically there isnt very much fluid in the cooler anyway

update or add on. whatever.
So a guy told me to check for clogage in my hard lines, I disconnect them and the reservoir (in radiator) is DRY. Even after all those road tests, WTF. Do I have a possible pump problem?, does the tranny system even have an outside pump? Still scrathing my head fellas.

I would pick on the new radiator! If you take both lines off, can you blow air through the radiator? If the cooler in the radiator is plugged, the cooler lines wouldn't flow. I think there is a bypass check valve in the transmission oil pump. Check and see that the radiator cooler does flow air, to check that your new part is actually good.
