my 98 4.6 was misfiring on the #4 cylinder, turned out being a coolant leak where the heater core hoses go through the fire wall, right above the #4 cylinder, which was shorting the plug, causing the misfire, changed the plugs with autolite platinums, and some really good wires, and the problem disappeared.
