Okay guys. Luck cannot seem to go my way. I'm like 99% certain that the intake manifold on the mustang is leaking. It has the aluminum crossover but I first noticed a puddle where the thermostat housing and the intake meet and it was dripping down and making a puddle under the car. I looked at it again today and there's coolant puddles all along the manifold on the driver side where it meets the heads. So obviously that's going to need replacing.
But I figured I'd ask here since the engines are basically the same. Would an intake manifold leak like this cause drivability issues? The car has a hard time getting started. Sometimes it'll crank and fire and die right away. Some times it'll catch and idle okay for a bit then die or nearly die and catch itself. And it sputters BAD especially when you first start it up and try to drive. Sounds almost like a 2 step rev limiter. And it stumbles and bucks HARD. And when it's doing this, it smokes a little bit. It's extremely faint so it's hard to gauge the color but I don't think it's oil as I don't see any blue hue to it. From what I can tell it's a grey smoke. Almost like it's running slightly rich but it could be coolant as well. It's so faint that's I can't really tell. The last time I checked, the coolant level was within spec and hadn't dropped.
The strange part is that after I've driven it a couple miles the issue seems to clear up quite a bit. I haven't really gotten on it to see if it's got full power just because I don't want to risk anything. But once you turn it back off and let it sit for a few minutes, the problem reoccurs. I'm baffled. The car is in for a diagnostic right now at a local garage but I wanted to get some other opinions.

Well I got to taking the long block apart and got the heads and everything off so now it's just the short block. It's pretty dirty but I can still see factory hone marks in all cylinders. Taking it down further later today or tomorrow.
On a side note, I now have 4v heads for sale. Same heads as the cobra with new cams. Youd want to get them cleaned up but they are good solid heads. Not sure what they go for fully assembled used but I'll list my price in the for sale section.
