It is definitely the starter you are hearing and not the relay on the firewall?

One known thing about Fords -- if you turn the key to start it and it only goes "click" -- remove and clean the battery cables and posts. You have corrosion between the battery post and the cables. I'd try that.

Well yea, I guess so lol. Doubt it..

If your dead set on that being the cause, crank it by hand.

You know? - see if she's locked up.

im not set on anything its not even my truck im just trying to narrow it down. I told him I didnt think it could be the timing chain the way he was explaining it. He said him and another guy tried turning it by hand and it would turn toward the driver side but not the passenger. so that guy told him it was the timing chain locked up the engine. I didnt know you had to turn the 4.6 both ways.

Well, just turn it the way she cranks. That should be stickered under the hood by the radiator somewhere...picture/diagram of which way it cranks. If something is binding it up, yea there's a problem. Now, if that's the case, you pull the starter immediately. To confirm the starter isn't locked or gear jammed at the flywheel.
