Default 4.6 intake manifold on a 5.4?

Hi,

I have a 2001 Ford F150 with the 5.4 V8 in it and just recently my crappy plastic and aluminum intake manifold has started to leak when under pressure, my buddy has an aluminium intake manifold from a 2000 Ford Expedition that had a 4.6 V8 in it.

My question is would I be able to fit the 4.6 intake manifold on my truck? I've asked around to numerous people I know and they all say the same thing "Google it" but every Google search seems to lead me to forum discussions on if a 5.4 intake manifold will fit on a 4.6 instead of it being the other way around.

I just need to know what I need to do if the 4.6 intake manifold will work, and if it doesn't, can someone lead me to where I can find a full aluminum intake manifold for my 5.4?

if im not mistaken the intake holes are the same. What changes are the gaskets, and bolt pattern. As far as looking for an aluminum manifold, i would check maybe ebay or google "what aluminum manifolds fit the 5.4L" and then go from there.... nut sure if this really helped but good luck.

If the manifold is free or very cheap you could get some adaptor plates otherwise for the price you might as well just buy a 5.4 one

Go to O'Reiley's Auto Parts, and have 'em show you their replacement manifold. Went through this with my Crown Vic, and the replacement has cast aluminum bits for where the water passages are.

Worked out great, just sold the car with 204k miles on it, still running like a Swiss watch.
