Yup... I had a cracked windshield and had the glass company come replace it. After they left, I left also. 2 hours later I get a call from my buddy who was working on our house yelling through the phone that my truck had 10 foot flames coming up through the engine compartment. Luckily the hood was up. He eventually caught it in somewhat good time and put it out with pots and pans.. It looks like it came from the relay/fuse box on the driverside.

Dang. Now what? Why was the hood up? It ignited all by self?

I'm replacing everything that got damaged which luckily wasn't much. The hood was up because the seals and trimm were still off (cracked) and I was running to the salvage yard to get new ones so I just left it up. If it was closed, it would've been a total loss. And yes, it ignighted by itself.

Everyone should be weary. Read the link below.

Condolences.

I take it this is unrelated to the cruise control wiring issue? (which, admittedly, I have not researched in depth)

I'm thinking that's what it was but not sure. Is it possible to remove/delete it so it won't happen again? Cruise control is for lazy people lol.

I'm a bit curious why... Having one's truck set ablaze would sure to be the cause of a bad day.

It could have been MUCH worse. Luckily the hood was up and someone was 50 feet awake and heard the tire explode.
