Question 2wd F150 upper control arms and lower ball joints

Im new to this, but I have a 1999 F150 2wd and I wanted to know if anyone has had to change upper control arms and lower ball joints. If you have any suggestions or advice I'll be happy to hear from you.

i have heard a lot of positive things about moog products, i just changed my lower bjs, they are really easy if you have a bj press, upper a-arms are also easy to do. what kind of info, specifically, are you looking for

I ran Moog lower balljoints in my truck and my dad's old 1999 F150 and they're absolute junk. I didn't expect them to last on my truck because I do offroad occasionally but they still lasted only 50k miles on my dad's truck and those were very easy miles. But for the price... it's hard to beat. When I rebuilt the front suspension for the 3rd time, I ran OEM lower balljoints (at $65 each, ouch) and just because I'm cheap, ran Moog parts on everything else.

Changing parts isn't that bad, you can do it with basic hand tools and a 10lb sledgehammer. I'd also recommend a tie rod end seperator in case yours have never been changed out.

I changed mine on a 4x4... the only issue I had was the brake disc was stuck on. The press works wonders. A lot of people try to use the cups to put the joint it, well don't. Use the disc with the hole, and feed the bolt through that. When it hits the joint, there is nothing there to hurt it. I used an impact to remove but I was able to get the new ones in with a good ratchet.

Thank you for the feedback. Well I've been to advance auto and they have a $70 upper control arm, and the lower ball joints were $14 a piece. I'm guessing that those parts are OEM replacements. I was really just wanting to know how easy and about how much it would cost me.

I wouldn't expect a $14 balljoint to last long enough to make it to the alignment shop. There's just some parts you're better off going the Ford-OEM route with and lower balljoints are definitely a part you don't want to cheap out on.

Yeah I'll probably just end up buying everything from the Ford shop, and I hope that it goes smoothly.
