Default 285 70r 17.. Will they fit?

I bought a 2.5 rough country suspension lift, Moto Metal 17x9 wheels with a -5 inch offset..possibly? I got them in a 6x135 bolt pattern, and just ordered 2" 5x135 to 6x135 adapters. I haven't got my adapters yet, but went to buy my tires today 285 70 17 And the tire man told me that it won't work, I want your input on it, so its lifted 2.5 inches without torsion bars cranked, 2" thick spacers, 17x9 wheels with a -5 offset, And 285 70/17.. Will it rub? Will I need to do minor trimming? Will they still hit if I crank the torsion bars? Thanks again for the help

I ran 35x12.5's on a 17x8 with 2.5" adapters. The adapters made my tire come off, but that's besides the point. I ran these with no lift, just a T-bar crank and I had to trim the bumper just a little.

I ran 285/75R16's with no problems, but no adapters.

If I where you, I'd find the right wheel. Spacers / adapters work for some people and they have used them for multiple years, then there are people like me who didn't get to use them a week before a tire comes off. If you still want to go cheap instead of getting the right wheel, make sure you have hub centric adapters.

Have 20x12 -44 Moto metal 962 wheels on true 33" toyo MTS you'll be fine with 2" adapters. Same level kit and all. I had to trim but nothing you can tell

Edit: buy quality adapter, re torque after 50 miles and then 100 and you'll never have an issue with them. Spacers and adapters wouldn't be so huge in the modded truck world if everyone's tires went flying down the road, have a buddy putting down 800 RWHP in a PSD with 3" wheel adapters and he's Burt off 2 sets of tires with no issues with the adapters. Just be smart and you're good.
