225mi out of 25 gal tank
I have a 2000 F-150 extended cab Lariat and it says my tank hold 25 gallons. I get about 250 miles out of a tank of gas. Is this reasonable or is something else going on?

Depends on the truck.. In my truck that would be a hair low,in a stock truck that's really low

My tank holds 25 gallons and I got 83 miles on my last tank.
This tells you nothing. How many gallons of gas did you put in and exactly how many miles did you drive. Until we know this, and have several tanks to know your actual MPG we can't help you.
Same for your driving style, location, truck info (which engine, all stock, 2wd or 4wd, lifted, bigger tires etc).
It could be perfectly reasonable depending on all these factors.
And just FYI, I drove 83 miles and used 7.9 gallons of gas, which is 10.5 mpg, but I have also driven 162 miles and used 10.4 gallons of gas (15.6 mpg).

Your running bigger that stock tires on a 4x4. That will hurt mileage.
Mostly around town, that will hurt mileage a lot.
If your gears are 3.31, that is a huge hit for around town driving. 3.55 is OK, but 3.73-4.11 would be better.
Did you recalibrate your speedometer after changing tire size? If not, your MPG calculations are off since you are driving further than what your odometer says. If you stock tire size was 255/70R16, your new tires are about 9% bigger, so your odometer will be off by 9%, so 250 miles is actually ~ 273 miles. That would add about 1 mpg to your calculations.
But regardless of this, your driving a 5.4 L v-8 that moves a 6000 lb brick down the road. This engine was designed when gas was less the $1 a gallon, so gas mileage was not a concern.

I have the extended cab 4.6 on 285s with 3:55s and get around 350 miles off of a full tank. I know the 5.4 uses more gas, but that is horrible if that's with a full tank.

It's not about miles per tank it's about miles per gallon. Anyone who is posting how many miles they get to their tank is providing you useless info.
