Mine was like that when the fuel pump was weak,when you did get it up to 2800+ rpms it felt like it was stuck between gears and not shifting.

when you push it to the floor it just boges out and won't pick up rpm's. you have to fether the gas to get it up to speed and when you come into a hill it bogs down again.
Jackedup00 thinks it might be a fuel pressure problem, Ill have to have it checked.
