Default 2002 F150 4.6 Cruise control

I have recently not been able to use my cc when I try to activate it the cruise light just flashes but wil not stay on nor maintain speed. Any ideas? I also have an intermitdent issue of engine missing or chugging when accellerating, this problem has been there for months but will go for a week or so and go away, I have changed fuel filter and plugs, ran a scan and no codes came up.

The wires are original, I have wondered about them as well, I should have changed them when I changed my plugs. (2 of them being so fun and all)

Checked fuses under dash, did not find any blown. I looked in the manual to see which one was for the Cruise the only one I found was #5 a 5amp that looked like it might be the one but fuse was good... was hoping that might have been it..

Ford does have a recall on alot of f series cruise controls it's a free fix and it takes them about 15 mins to do and plus they did a free over look on my truck and told me what all was good and wasn't on a print out.... My cc had some kind off fluid built up and oozing out of it and they say "it causes fires" just take it in to the dealer and it'll be fixed in no time

A few years back I had the recall item fixed or so I thought... Apparently what was done was they added a wire harness that has a fuse link in it. I checked my truck this morning and the sending unit and harness was soaked in brake fluid, so off to the dealership I went. The parts dept told me I needed to replace the switch and that since the switch was not leaking when recall was done, all that was replaced was a preventitive measure for when it did leak.... If Ford knew the switch was faulty why wasnt it changed during the recall aswell? Not only did I want my cruise to work but the tech told me the truck could still catch fire with the switch leaking.... Nice!! So theres my rant... Heading out to install the $22 switch...

Very simple fix, cruise works again and no worries of a fire... Life is good! For those of you that dont use your cruise much, you may want to make sure it still works..
