2002 4.2 codes 302 316 help
I have a 2002 ext cab with 4.2 V-6. I have 120,000+ miles on it. The truck is great but I've been fighting a check engine light for over a year now. The codes show i have a engine missfire in the first 1000 rv, a Cylinder 2 missfire and its running lean bank one.
I have replaced the plugs with motocraft oem and was very carefull to check the spacing on each plug. I've replaced the wires, oem motocraft. I've replaced the coil pack. I did pay 80 bucks to have the injecters checked and they said they were fine.
I'm running out of options besides taking it to a shop and spending a lot of money i don't have to get it fixed. I'm just a firefighter and don't make alot of money but I need this truck.
I've heard it can be a vacume problem ( I can't see or hear anything obvious). I'm read in can be a 02 sensor. Can anyone tell me how to check them, without just replacing them in hopes that it fixes the problem. I have checked the EGR (i pinched the tube and you can here the gate close and open. I've read it can be the throttle position sensor (how to do you check it? I'm runnin out of options. I've read just about every post on here. Can anyone give me any ideas on what to try or look for? I'm lost!
Thanks in advance!

My code reader for the OBD II shows 4 digit codes not a three digit. Am confused with that. My 2002 4.2L was throwing P0171 & P0174. System too lean bank 1 and bank 2. I never did ever feel a miss. What fixed mine was exactly what the techs at Ford advised me. Replace the rubber seals and bolts with grommets securing the black plastic plenium chamber to the top of the intake. About $150.00 for the parts. Took me about 2 hours to do. Send me a private message if interested. And welcome to the forum.
