I thought the speedo pickup was in the rear diff case.......?

Just a update of what the conclusion was, just in case if someone else might come across this issue

I replaced the transfer case, took about 5 hours. Found a bad u-joint, replaced that also.
Now it runs great, put about 300 miles on it, and no issues.

When I removed the old one I could hear something really loose in there, just flopping around. Checked the fluid and it was full of metal.
